I had mixed feeling with the last experience with Uhaul. The good are related to the friendly personnel, and the bad all related to the business itself.

The Good:
a) The personnel were very friendly.

b) We showed up without reservation but they helped us get a rental quickly.

The bad:
a) The $1+ per mile is just crazy. That makes the $20 displayed on the trucks almost look like a joke.

b) We were having issues with the handbrake, and tried to call them. We had no phone number to contact the local office. The nationwide number had many options but none for small issues, and it was impossible to get a person on the phone. Luckily we solved the issue by ourselves.

c) The truck felt like it was going to fall apart any time.

d) When I returned the truck the 1st employee told me that I could go without need to check anything, but then the second employee told me to wait until they checked the mileage. They explained that UHaul keeps changing the rules, and it seems there is not appropriate training or protocols.

The staff at this location are AWESOME! They are friendly, helpful, and go out of their way to take care of you. I've had to pick up a trailer the last couple of weekends, and each time they have been wonderful!

The doghouse was not fastened properly, had to wrap my leg with a shirt because heat or steam was burning my leg. I paid full price and was charged $11 because the tank wasn’t full. I explained that the pump I had stopped at was broken and I had to guess the amount to put in.

I got scammed by this U-Haul location. Be careful what they say they are gonna sell. For me it wasn’t exactly what was stated I was renting and then there’s no human being that would return my call. Be careful warning.

Issues with both storage and truck reservations here. Do your absolute best to avoid, which I know is hard in College Station :/

STORAGE: I spent over $2000 to store some important valuables for ~10 months. When they say store at your own risk, I promise you - you are risking everything. DON’T STORE IN UNIT 1007 OR HERE AT ALL. This unit had a water leak from above and over $1000 worth of my furniture and other items were destroyed by mold and water damage. I’m sure more of my storage was destroyed from mold spores. The manager asserted it was a “natural disaster” despite saying an investigation had not been completed. I’m not sure how a natural disaster gets into a first floor unit - it looked more like a broken or leaking pipe. Because I did not pay extra for the insurance, I was left responsible for the facility’s lack of proper maintenance.

TRUCK RESERVATION: While this is not stated at the time of reservation or in the confirmation email, if you do not show up within the first hour of your 2-day reservation, their policy is to cancel your reservation without so much as a call to check - even if you call the location on the morning of to confirm that you are planning to come in to move out that day. My reservation was at 3 PM and I got in line at 6 PM to learn of the cancellation. As a result, I had to drive over an hour away the next day and readjust my family’s plans. I attempted to complain about the situation asking for some better resolution than “well, that sucks”. The best they could offer was a truck that did not fit my needs and shifting the blame to me because “you changed your reservation”. Again, I changed my reservation because it was cancelled without warning despite receiving a call from me on the day of the reservation letting them know that I would be there.

Our initial truck reservation made back in April was not actually there when we showed up. There were several trailers available we could have made work, but these were refused as reserved for others. Eventually they found one coming back that same day we were able to rent. When we arrived to pick it up, it was not returned yet, and the Manager on duty said, "I'll give you one of the ones here and handle the other when it comes in." That to me should have been how the situation was handled in the first place. I can't imagine how this would have been for someone who could not make a plan B work, with a truck reserved months in advance not available after driving 90 miles to pick it up.

Asked if renting an appliance dolly on its own was possible. Got talked to as a five year old by the manager. He was very rude and could have answered my question politely.

Some of the staff is absolutely amazing and super friendly but I'm not sure why this guy has such an ego about being a manager of a truck store. I have sympathy for those who work with him.

2 days before, we needed a trailer , we booked on line agreed to a location, confirmed the appointment and made the plans that this rental set into motion. With in the time frame we had a couple stops and t9 coordinate with multiple people. We woke our kids early and headed to the store to pick up our trailer. Upon arrival to this store there was chaos in the parking lot, but my exact unit was out side so I was still positive about my day. I then entered the office area, where I found thst I was the 12th person in line. Being an aggie in.most cases I would take solace in the fact that I was the 12th man, but on this day only aggravation issued. I thin remained in line greater then 45 minutes. While in line I had the enjoyment to experience an interaction that involved an outside worker telling a manager that a worker was throwing up out side(hangover situation) , and another instance that the manager told a customer that she didn't have time to help, but to tell the maintenance guy to cut a lock , and that she she said it was ok.( THIS INSUED GREAT CONFINEDENCE IN THE SECURITY OF THE STORAGE UNITS IN THIS ESTABLISHMENT) While in line the whole time I attempted to use the online option , so as to "avoid the line check in online" but this did nothing. Finally it was my turn, tge exuberation could hardly be contained, only to be the final blow to my day when I was told that my trailer wasn't there, and the one I rented was supposed to be returned 3 days ago. At this point I was offered an.open top trailer, which did not work for me. I have an open top trailer, I went to uhaul for the enclosed option. I was then told that my reservation could be changed to the next day , and I would receive a call by 3 thst afternoon confirming my trailer. This didn't really work for me but I was willing to attempt to rearrange my plans. We then left , on the way to.my vehicles i had the pleasure avoid along with my young children a wshed away puke pile and standing psrking lot water, and outside workers hollering st eachother, the very workers that the one front desk lady was having to stop and holler at the whole time I waited in line. The call never came about my trailer being ready . zhe trailer rental interaction never occurred.
The place needs 2 indoor personnel and an out side manager. They need weekend and night personnel to verify returns and to notify renters thst there equipment is not yet available.This is Collegestation Texas, hkme to one of the greatest universities in the world. There in a great business school that teaches about management mere minutes away, yet this particular location is completely inept,, of management or customer service. If uhaul want the only game in town , they would greatly suffer financially.
