We have always had a good experience with this company, but during our recent delivery, we encountered some issues. We had to wait at the shipper for four extra hours, and then had to wait for five more hours at the delivery location. The payment we received for detention was only $33 per hour which we felt was not fair considering we lost two days on a load that was only 240 miles. Broker: Dennis Swaney Load# 904093

This cheap broker sent me to a shipper that required extra equipment and did not tell me. And I do have the necessary stuff for 90% of loads I deal with... Shipper says the broker knows this and sells the equipment needed, but the broker would not pay for them or the 120-mile DEADHEAD TONU!!! DRIVERS BEWARE!!!

I've worked with this broker in the past, but the last load we did I felt my company and driver were not appreciated. We did a FEMA load for Steam Logistics and was given all these instructions on how to execute the load including how to fill out the BOL. Over 15 emails were sent to us with instructions . The rate con stated the pick up time was 6:00 am sharp, driver arrived at 5:15 am and it was a long line down the street of trucks waiting to pick up. Driver did not depart with his load until 10:15 am. I immediately requested for detention. The delivery address was changed on us after picking up the load and was still NOT the correct drop location. I stayed in constant communication with Steam for the duration of the load. However when it was time to get detention approved and paid, little to no response from the broker. Eventually the broker paid out $50 of his own money, as he stated, for 1 hour of detention (bc FEMA was not responding to him regarding detention) and we still have not been paid for the detention. The load was completed over a month ago. I've attempted to get in contact with the broker, the accounting depart, carrier relations with no success. My biggest gripe with Steam is about the unresponsiveness and inability to reach someone regarding payment for detention. Broker is not responding to my emails and accounting dept doesn't answer calls (goes straight to vm and get a message that vm is full). Very unprofessional!

This is great broker. Always there to help when you need something. We did a flatbed load with them, been held at the shipper for 9 hours, they paid us fair detention. Would work with them in the future.

Steak called me today (Friday 02-07-2025) wanting a load loaded today and delivered on Saturday. 262 miles for a total pay of 750 dollars. That’s $2.88 a mile when I said man that’s too cheap not even $3 a loaded mile the guy laughed and said that’s not cheap and hung up. So I crushed the numbers after fuel and labor my company would keep ~130 dollars for a day. That’s not including factoring in wear and tear insurance or anything else. So I called back to explain that why it’s too cheap cause some people need to understand what it cost to run these trucks. And I got told before I could even get into the expenses “man I don’t have time for a lecture” click..

Hi, I completed my load on the evening of 7th of February, I requested quickpay and it's a full week since i submitted my invoice, still I am not gettin my payment, I talked to relay and they told me over and over again that the broker has yet to schedule the payment, worst part is that their team is not replying to my emails and if i call to their main line, no one picks up at any extension.
It's really a worse experience.

Poor Communication and Unresolved Compensation for Mistake

I recently worked with this broker and had a very frustrating experience. I was given the wrong location to drive to by this broker, which required me to waste 30 minutes going to the incorrect address. I was then sent to a new location that was another 30 minutes away. This error ended up costing me a full hour of wasted time, as well as additional fuel costs.

Given the circumstances, I requested compensation, as many brokers typically offer reimbursement for such errors, but my request was declined. It was clear that the broker was more focused on protecting his own interests than addressing the inconvenience and extra costs caused by his mistake.

While mistakes happen, the lack of accountability and willingness to resolve the issue left me disappointed. I would have appreciated more understanding and fairness in handling this situation, but unfortunately, that was not the case here. I cannot recommend this broker based on my experience.

As an Owner/Operator it is very important finding those brokers who won't take advantage of you, lie to you, or expect you to pay put of your own pocket to haul a load. I had the pleasure of working with Bryant at Steam Logistics on a very complex load with multiple moving components. Rather than micro managing the job from a cubicle 1000's of miles away, Bryant let me use my experience, my instincts and my eyes on the ground take control when things starting getting complicated due to outside entities. WE (myself and Bryant from Steam Logistics) got the job done and still on time. Steam Logistics is an outstanding brokerage company to work with, and forsee many more loads in our future together. Bryant's professionalism and personality are a major attribute to Steam Logistics and should be what every other broker should strive to mimic. I'd give Steam Logistics and Bryant 10 stars, if I could, but unfortunately I am maxed out at 5 stars.
