I just wanted to say that this little motel was just what we needed. We stayed here a few years ago and decided to try it out again. It is in the forest and is so quiet and charming. We traveled into Santa Cruz and had a very good day. We were able to leave the city and come back to a beautiful area. Aj at the front desk went above and beyond for us. He was able to accommodate us and gave us a upgrade. We would definitely recommend this place for a little quieter place to stay. We will be back next time we are in the area.😁

Tried to check in on 1/3/25 at 6:30 PM . The office says it’s open, but the door is locked. I call several times and no one answers. I’m a solo female traveler. So, it’s already stressful.
Already paid through Priceline. Otherwise, I’d cancel.
Finally a guy answers and looks like he just woke up and/or is high. It was pretty clear he was sleeping in the back.
Then, he tells me that he can’t find my reservation. I show him my priceline receipt and email confirmation.
I wait at least 15 minutes, then he says I can just pay them directly. Since, he still can’t find my reservation and they’re having issues with their system. I ask if he can just confirm with Priceline, he says no.
I said I’m not doing that, since I already paid. He argues with Me saying that I haven’t paid.
I show him the receipt again and he looks confused and smug.
He argues further saying I’m not Listening, that I have to pay them directly.
Again…Why would I do that? When I already paid.
I’ve Been a bar manager before and he was very unprofessional & rude . I was so shocked, so I began to record the conversation.
Then, he tells me to leave and says they don’t need customers like me.
I’ve never been treated so poorly by customer service in my life. Did not feel safe with this person. Probably best I didn’t stay there.
Now, I have to call Priceline, try to cancel and get a refund. And, find a new hotel.

This was quite possibly the nicest small hotel stay I’ve ever had. The front desk person, AJ, was incredibly helpful, kind, friendly, and just a real joy to be around! I was very nervous as I am a woman traveling solo and it being a bit of a remote location definitely gave me anxiety, but AJ made me feel comfortable and secure with some friendly conversation and a bit of information about the area. The building is fairly small as was the room I stayed in, however, it was very clean and cozy! The only thing is that I couldn’t figure out how to get the tv going, but I feel that’s more a fault on my part. I honestly wasn’t bothered enough by it to ask for assistance 🤷🏻‍♀️
Overall it was an amazing experience and I would absolutely stay here again!

Absolutely beautiful views. Set in the mountains of Santa Cruz basically. Surrounded by redwoods.
The rooms were clean and perfect for relaxing in. Coffee pot (coffee and tea bags), hair dryer, toiletries, and the bed and pillows were comfy. Continental breakfast with hot waffles available...that starts at 8 so if you sleep in, you don't actually miss breakfast.
There is a picnic area with BBQ grills and it sits right next to a historical landmark. A house that looks like a castle. A little creek runs right behind the house.
The absolute best part of this hotel? AJ...the front desk clerk. He is helpful, very kind, funny, and just an all around awesome guy. This will absolutely be my go to place to stay when I'm in the area.

We had 3 rooms. Walked in and found broken locking mechanisms for front windows facing exterior walkways - dowels were provided. When we found hair, lipstick and mascara stains on sheets, the clerk at the front desk would not answer the phone so we couldn’t have sheets addressed until next day. The bedding and towels were thin and rough. Bathtub was worn and slick when wet without nonslip stickers or nonslip bath mat. Water pressure in the tub was extremely weak making finding off difficult. The toilet was tilted and the seat was loose. The bathroom sink had a crack that ran the length across the bottom and no stopper. The furniture in the rooms was damaged with one piece held together with duct tape. The door safety latch on one door was cracked and not usable. The window sills were water damaged and not repaired. Walls were patched but left unsanded and unpainted. The curtains were filthy. The grounds were well maintained but the pool slick with algae - total slipping hazard. When we complained about the condition of the rooms, we were credited 10% which we found unacceptable. I understand it is a 2 star property, but 2 star means less amenities not run down, deplorable conditions.

Surprised by how beautiful the surrounding is. Given it's a 2 star hotel, it exceeded our expectation. It's comfortable and clean, has good coffee and waffle at 8-10am. AJ at front desk is the best. Only minor point was that the Keurig machine at the room was rarely used, thus a bit dusty.

Nice hotel tucked in the Santa Cruz Mountains surrounded by Sequoia trees and Redwoods. Rooms are clean and have all the amenities you need. Staff is friendly and welcoming.
