So amazing!! This isn’t the main bookstore and is usually not open to the public, but I woke up bright and early for this possibly-once-in-a-lifetime Warehouse Sale (June 2nd, 2024) so I can share a few glimpses inside!! Got nearly 70 new and used books, even some signed copies, and spent less than $100!!! For future readers/visitors to Portland that may read this, keep in mind that they’re typically not open to the public at this location! You’re most likely looking for “Powell’s City of Books”!! But yeah, waited in line for a few hours (got there around 6:30am and got in at 10:00am) and it was SO worth it 💕 The workers were very kind and gave everyone waiting in line free coffee and escorted people to the bathroom. Love you Powell’s, make this a yearly thing if you can!!!

The warehouse is nestled into pretty rows of trees over sidewalks, and surrounded by art studies warehouse spaces so there is lots to check out. The building itself is awe-inspiring for anyone who loves to be in a room with more books than you can reasonably count. Magic.

We made it down to the warehouse sale over the weekend, which in of itself was incredible. The staff was amazing, so patient and kind with the huge crowd gathered to enjoy the sale. Definitely a great spot to check out for any book lovers out there!

Went to the warehouse sale! Great deal on older books.
I’m sure they did the best they could with what they had and with the mass of people, but I think it could have been set up better for a better flow.

It is the best. They have my books proudly displayed, and that makes me happy to see. Go there just to browse, find rare literary gems, savor great poets, all over wonderful coffee and pastries. It is greatly reassuring that Powells is there.
