Stopped in the resale shop a few days ago. I found some cute stuff, especially the pair of Tom's I got. I was surprised they had any shoes my size. (11)

My best day there was worse than my worst day in my addiction.

To say it was filthy is an understatement.
Upon my arrival, I was taken into a lobby, which could easily be described as a place for stray dogs. Filthy dogs at that. I could barely understand what the woman that called herself in charge, was trying to instruct me to do, due to her acute smokers cough, as she was pulling on a Basic 100 (that’s an uneducated guess) that never left her mouth the entire time. Onward.
I was taken to my room, which consisted of three other ladies.
I was told by a resident there, that this place was mainly for homeless women and not so much of a rehab. Two of the women in my pod were homeless.

One of the main reasons for me choosing this facility, was because it had its own kitchen and you were allowed to go purchase your own food and prepare it
yourself. That excited me.

My excitement was very short lived.
When upon entering the kitchen I saw a rodent of some sort, running rampant.
It was not a full blown rat, nevertheless it was a rodent and I am deathly afraid of all of them. To have any animal, rodent or non rodent running amuck in any room of a rehab, is appalling. This thing did not just mysteriously appear there. It had a home of its own, right there in the kitchen.
When one of the “team” insisted for me to face my fears and proceeded to put that animal in my face for me to pet, could have ended up very bad for either myself, “team member” or said rodent, if a lady on the bunk below me hadn’t intervened.

I had to go to the hospital the next day for serious health issues. I will say it was not rodent related. I was treated at the hospital for over 5 hours. I was never told a friend could not pick me up from the hospital and bring me back to that place.
We were met by a bar that would not permit us to drive any farther.
I was told over an intercom that I was “kicked out.”
I was not disappointed. Confused, but not disappointed.
When asked if I could enter to retrieve my personal belongings, I was told no and that the team members would be packing my things.
Upon checking my property, while still sitting at the gate several of my items were missing and nobody seemed to know where they were. I waited 45 minutes for the team members to find a shoe, 3 shirts, hair conditioner and a fan.
They were never found.
I still was not allowed into the facility.

However, one of the patients was playing basketball adjacent, to where I was waiting in my friends vehicle, must have noticed how distraught I was and tossed me a Valium. It was very much needed and appreciated.

I would not take my dead animal there to bury, much less a loved one in need of help.
I actually needed more help once I was ordered to leave there.

Absolutely horrible!

Thrifter's haven!!!

When I walked in, the first item I saw was this gorgeous Sundance sweater. It was in epic condition and I have already worn it twice since last week. Only $4!

All their prices are beyond fair and consistent throughout the store. They also sort it pretty nice by size and colorish so it is easy to see what they have in your size.

About halfway through shopping, the employee told me about the ministry that runs the place and I was floored. It is like a smaller scale Goodwill. And small scale stuff can make big impacts in people's lives.

This place is Hot Springs. Invest in your community, shop here, and donate here. I may have only been a traveler...but your sweater lit up my trip and so did your shop. A million thanks 🤗🌻🙏🦋☀️

This ministry SAVED MY LIfE!!! If it wasn't for the love and discipline of God that these wonderful people taught me, I wouldnt have made it out of my addiction. I would still be a lost soul wandering in the dark. This was once just a place I was sentanced too for my poor decisions, but within 6 months....ALL of these people became family, and they will forever remain so. If anyone in your family has a drug or alcohol problem...and are truly ready to change their lives for the better and work the program, these dedicated servants of the Lord will take you by the hand and slowly change the hearts of the broken!!

The worst place if you are a abused woman looking for somewhere to be safe and get your lifeback on track. I was told it was a 6 month program where you couldnt have a cell phone, would only let you out for doctor appointments, and not allowed to get a job during that time. They make you work in the thrift store for them. The person who runs it is a religious man who has no odea what woman go threw and how they don't need to be punished and locked away. The last thing we need is to keep us from getting our lives back.
