I've been trying to get relief from a dog that is left outside to bark incessantly. There is no ordinance against a dog barking. There is an ordinance against a dog being left "unattended" and "out of control." This dog barks from 9:30 pm until 4:30 am almost every night, and this problem has continued for almost four years. Because there's no noise ordinance, nobody in the county will assist a retired homeowner who pays taxes. The situation at this point is untenable. I can either put my personal safety at risk in order to quiet the dog, or I can move. Animal control does nothing. The sheriff's department does nothing. The County Commission does nothing. How long can a person go without sleeping? This has long been a health concern as I have a heart condition for which I take medication. I would caution anyone who might consider moving into Gordon County that if you happen to move near an out of control, unattended animal that robs you and your family of sleep, nobody cares. The Sheriff's Department suggested I go to Walmart and buy ear plugs.
