Terrible service, they do not notify you of anything. They were extremely difficult to work with just moving across town. They charged reconnection fees on a bill that was already paid and wasn’t even shut off. Never have had a pleasant experience trying to deal with them. Hell getting them to answer the phone is a miracle. Google needs to give us the ability to rate with negative stars.

If I can give 0 stars I would. Elgin water company is very inconsiderate.
1) No one answers the phone. (Morning or mid day).
2) They keep turning our water off DAYS in advance before our due date. The amount of stress they put us residents through is beyond insane.
3) This company is messing with people’s livelihood.
4) I don’t appreciate the lack of accountability. Their favorite response is, “it was a mistake.”

Ultimately! New management, a new team, and a new payment system needs to happen. Get people that actually care and take their job seriously!

I'm a plumber working in Elgin today, responding to a call for service from a resident, who has a toilet leaking sewage from the base of the toilet. After pulling the toilet and repairing a broken toilet flange, I noticed her house was still backed up, went outside and found a city sewer clean out and popped the cap off, which began draining the residents' sewer into the front yard, which means the city's portion of the sewer line is clogged. Go figure in the middle of the day on a Thursday that no one at the utilities department can be bothered to answer the phone.

Very poor transaction system auto pay works then it doesn't and they tell you they have no way see why and then they double the bill and tell you to pay it or lose service. Be aware this is a real problem not me trying to get out of paying my bill. I don't leave reviews this has been such a problem I thought I might speak up.

If I could give zero stars.. Today no one is here at the office. There is no sign indicating if they are closed for Good Friday either. This isn’t the first time that I’ve had to come have my water manually turned back on because they shut it off with no warnings only to have no one available to help. Either because of incompetency or just flat out not being on the job. Also we’ve tried setting up an automatic bill pay but it’s impossible because they have an old outdated system for processing payments, which in turn creates more fees and unannounced stopping of services. Which might I add is illegal in the state of Texas. It’s infuriating that I can’t change to the other utility providers in town because of location but still this is unacceptable for the people of this town. We all deserve better. Shame on you City of Elgin Utility Dept.

The bill pay service seems willfully difficult on their end, so they can rack up fees. You apparently cannot pay online for your first bill (For us, we cant pay online or over the phone AT ALL!!!)... And if you call them to pay over the phone? Also NO! They "Don't have the technology" to take a card over the phone- direct quote. You apparently need to get a check or a money order, & drop it off in person. In 2021 I guess we need to show up on horseback to pay a water bill in person in Elgin. Im genuinely concerned when all these people moving to Texas get into Elgin, how they plan to handle a population boom.

Bill pay is awful. Sent a check a week ahead of time. USPS took 8 days to go 5 miles so elgin charged late fees and doesn't allow appeals. Told me to take it up with USPS when I asked for then to look at post Mark date. Online bill pay (CC only) charge $3 for each transaction. Seems tailored to rack up additional fees.

Walked in today at 3:55pm (they close at 4pm) and with a SMILE everyone got me squared away to get my utilities turned on today! Amazing service! Truly grateful!
