This is WAY overdue! For the last 3 years, Central Welding, on NE MLK, has been the ONLY place I go to buy my 5-lb CO² tanks. And even though they have the BEST price, what matters most to me is their AMAZING customer service. They always make me feel appreciated, even though I only come in every couple months. I'd give them 10 Stars if could!

I liked the place! 5 stars.

Pros: I walked in and was greeted. When I described what I wanted - a curved flap disk - a second salesman jumped in and found the part asap. Next I asked for a Spatter Spray -- they were out. Hey, so are the big-box places and even some vendors on Amazon. But they offered me a choice between waiting for the product by end-of-the-week and provided me with an alternative and demonstrated it. I grabbed the alternative. Finally, I asked to look at carbide burr and they showed me what they got and patiently talked me again through alternative processes.

Cons: Are they the cheapest? I doubt it. But hey this is retail with available knowledgable sales person, unlike what I would expect to find at a big-box store. It is in a location near downtown Portland. Not sure that this is truly a con or simply what you pay for expertise and availability.

I liked my experience and will be back!

Joe and Simeon, thank you very much for the best customer service. Very friendly helpful guys working there. I'm bringing all my welding needs to you guys now. They have a good variety of everything a welder needs. Couldn't find 7018 3/16 rod but they had it and gave me a deal. Very happy and thanks for being open on Saturday...

I love this store. I go here for all my welding gear, and every time the workers are so friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Not to mention the prices are great and they're not some big corporation ruining our lovely city. Supporting family owned business is just the cherry on top of what a great store this is. It’s absolutely worth the trip.

After being referred to CWS by ESAB as a warranty and servicing dealer for Victor gas regulator. I contacted Central Welding and was told bring it in and we'll send it in for exchange. So, today comes and not only will they not send it in they won't service Victor products. And they sell Victor products! Why in gods name would you sell products you won't service? Sorry, wait no I'm not you deserve this one star rating!

Two words- TRAVIS SMITH! This review could have easily been a one star review because we had a nitrogen delivery crisis (wrong nitrogen cylinder was delivered) that would have severely put our small business in a compromised position. And today is a weekend. After a lot of panicking, phone calls and voicemails, Travis was the only one to pick up the phone and assure me that he would get a delivery out within the hour. He is CLUTCH when it comes to customer service and after working with him for the past two years, I prefer to only work through him as he is consistent, honest and always so helpful. Travis, if you ever see this- thank you for everything you do (coming on time, being careful with our doors so it doesn't scratch, lifting our rugs so they don't get shredded when you wheel in the tanks) - we appreciate you and the five star customer service you always provide!
