We really enjoyed our time in Sitka. The weather was beautiful. There wasn't a long wait for the shuttle bus into town. We did some shopping before and after our excursion. Dave was our driver, and he was absolutely awesome. After our excursion, he dropped us off at the port to make sure we were on time returning...

Interesting facts about Sitka…

Sitka, Alaska, is a city located on Baranof Island in the southeastern part of the state. It's known for its stunning natural beauty, including rainforests, mountains, and coastal scenery. Sitka has a rich cultural history, blending Tlingit Native American heritage with Russian influences, as it was once the capital of Russian America before being sold to the United States in 1867.

Some highlights of Sitka include:

Sitka National Historical Park: The oldest national park in Alaska, known for its totem poles and historic significance, especially regarding the Tlingit and Russian conflicts.

The cruise ship terminal for Sitka is 5 miles from downtown. When you arrive, you will be looking at a building with shops, a restaurant, and a coffee stand. The only attractions out in this area are near the end of the road for the town of Sitka. The ferry terminal is about another half mile, and a campground is about a mile and a half from the terminal. There is talk of adding activities out near terminal like bungee jump or ? Stay tuned. You will immediately get in line to take a free shuttle into town. I would avoid stopping and shopping at this point, because you will have plenty of time to do that on your return.

Had an eventful and unforgettable day at the Sitka Cruise Ship Dock! The dock is well-organized, and the shuttle service to and from downtown is efficient and convenient. Arriving aboard the Brilliance of the Seas, I was immediately struck by the beauty of Sitka and its rich cultural heritage.

The highlight of my visit was exploring the totem poles, which are incredible works of art and history. The downtown area offers a charming mix of shops, restaurants, and attractions, making it a great place to wander and discover local culture.

Overall, Sitka Cruise Ship Dock provides an excellent gateway to the wonders of Sitka, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable visit. Highly recommended for anyone cruising through Alaska!

Not much to see at the pier but the wildlife excursions were great. Sea otters, gray whales, and orcas in the area when I was there last. Had the clearest views and best weather conditions for pictures. Clear calm waters and lots of marine wildlife.

It's a nice cruise ship terminal but having to take a shuttle to get downtown was a bummer, and the shuttle had an incredibly long line. It's a shame the terminal isn't actually in the town of Sitka.

It's pretty quiet and small place. Couple small shops are available for tourists. Credit cards accepted. Employees are nice and friendly. Public restrooms are available. Shuttle bus services and many activities are available, not free. A seafood restaurant and a beer shop are available. Overall experience is good.
