BUSINESS OWNER SCREAMS AT YOUNG MOTHER WITH 2 YEAR OLD TODDLER.
I have been a loyal customer for 7 years when Jeff was the original owner. I brought all my business here and spent several hundred dollars here each month. Over the years I developed friendships with all team members to the point where I was bringing them doughnuts during the holidays. Around a year ago Jeff retired and sold the business to two of his long term employees - I continued to have a positive experience even with the ownership transfer. It appears the relationship went sour as 2 weeks ago Jeff took the business back.
I stopped by in the morning to mail a package with a prepaid FedEx label. The ~19yo male employee, Dylan, was helpful and helped me package my item. They had a new printer so there was trouble with printing the pre-paid label I emailed. I patiently waited for over 40 minutes while they tried to log into their email and set-up the printer. I had my 2 year old toddler with me and we were now 20 mins from nap time and still needed to get lunch. So, I kindly asked Dylan if he could help me check out so I could pay for the packaging and that I was going to take the box to the FedEx up the street (reminder the label was prepaid to begin with so there is no business loss on their end) because I needed to get home for my kid. Jeff, the owner, overheard this comment and became outraged.
Jeff started screaming about how he knew I was friends with the old team but that he was "back in charge now!". He then screamed details about how the ownership transition went south and there was $X amount of debt (intimate legal details that should not have been shared publicly and are quite frankly none of my business whether I am friends with them or not). This lasted for about 8 minutes and Jeff turned red in the face from all his screaming. There were 2 other customers in there at the time and one left during his screaming outrage.
It was clear to me, and the others in the store at the time, that the owner could not be reasoned with. Dylan tapped me on the arm and asked if I would like to leave and if so, he would help carry my package out since my hands were full with my toddler. As I leave the store Jeff screams to me to never come back, that things were different around here now, and ends it with "tape is no longer free!" as he throws the tape roll. At this point my toddler is crying from being screamed at. The remaining customer in the store at the time followed me out of the store and said they purposely waited in there to make sure I was okay in fear of things escalating. Dylan, the kind employee, was extremely apologetic and said his bosses rage was unwarranted and completely unacceptable.
I took my business to the FedEx up the street. The FedEx employee saw me struggling with a crying toddler and large package. They helped me carry my package in, gave my crying toddler a glass of cold water and a Rice Krispy treat, they helped me print the label in 5 mins that I had just spent the last hour trying to do.
Take your business elsewhere or be prepared to become the victim of an old man's unregulated rage when something small doesn't go his way.
