Expert understanding of the mechanics involved in moving my 250-year-old four-poster bed, with its long screws The men listened to my concerns and handled each piece very carefully. Read the fine print before booking!
I hired McCorquodale Transfer to move a piano 6 miles. They were upfront that they would need 6 guys and that the hourly rate would be $747. What I did not know was that, when they said I would pay the hourly rate "portal to portal" they did not mean from the first location to the second, but included drive time from their office on both ends. Consequently, the move cost almost twice what I was expecting.
They did a good job with the move, but as I explained to Seneca, I was not expecting to pay over $700/hr for 6 guys to ride in a truck from their office. I was left dissatisfied with the move overall and felt taken advantage of.

Update: I'm responding to McCorquodale's response. I did read the email they sent, but I missed the attached letter with the terms. This wouldn't have made much difference since the terms were sent to me after I had already booked the move and would incur a $747 penalty for changing the date or canceling it.
My concern is to protect other customers from acting on the same misunderstanding of "portal to portal" that I did when the terms were explained to me over the phone.

McCorquodale Transfer did a remarkable job packing and moving most of my home contents to my new house, with nothing broken, and storing the rest several months during a renovation period. In addition, I was unable to supervise much of the move because my husband was in the hospital and I needed to be there. They took ownership of the process as if it was their personal move. I would recommend this company to anyone.

I had a very complicated move after trying to settle into a new place after a tornado. I can not say enough good things about the guys that helped our transition. And especially Seneca who face timed me to see my contents to better gauge how many men and trucks we would need. They are truly experts. They worked hard. Took one lunch break. Never complained. I will never use another company.

Hired McCorquodale Transfer for a delivery and they were FANTASTIC!! The delivery was a very heavy and awkwardly shaped table to move, and they came up with an ingenious method to get it safely off the truck and through the house. They were fast, courteous, professional and extremely pleasant to work with...the best quality and consistent movers you can possibly get. Plus, their rates are incredibly reasonable. They're the only movers I will ever use.
