My son would get snacks from the canteen regularly, and he's always paid, naturally. When Ollie's went through a firing phase this month, my son was included. Everyone was fired for stealing from the canteen for a couple weeks that I know of, and my son came home for a couple weeks beforehand talking about how dumb it would be to steal from the canteen as there are literally cameras all over so they would be caught.

Two days before Christmas, they pulled him aside and said he had stolen. They don't seem to understand that he's autistic and a stickler for rules. Enough so that he actually annoyed some of the new guys with trying to help them out when he saw them doing things differently than the company says they should be done, and I needed to talk to him about staying in his own lane and letting the bosses handle it lol. He freely volunteers with The Servants to repair homes for those who cannot afford it, and he has a strong moral compass. It's very black and white, no room for gray areas. He wouldn't steal and looks down on rules being broken.

They can't tell him what he supposedly stole. They have no idea. They just use it as their go-to excuse so workers can't get unemployment from them. It's a common practice in warehouses according to people on my social media. The unfairness of my son's firing and the resulting upset among his coworkers prompted one employee's mother to write to me.

My son isn't a thief. To tarnish his reputation with that accusation, so future employers will think he's untrustworthy, is really low, especially since it's just so they don't have to pay unemployment. I can see him getting fired for something like correcting his coworkers or getting distracted when interrupted, but never theft. Anyone who knows my son knows he won't budge on how he views things morally.

For nearly a year of his employment, he paid for a few snacks weekly from the canteen. He was even willing to say maybe someone interrupted him while paying and threw him off, causing him to lose focus, and he would pay for whatever they said he took even though he is hyper focused on tasks and the order they go in, much like most autistic people. But they had no idea what he supposedly had stolen even though he was willing to pay for something he knew he hadn't taken.

This ruined his Christmas and has had him extremely upset. He's certain no one will ever hire him again because they'll think he's a thief. Anyone who knows autistic people knows this is now a fixation in his head that has prompted a mental health crisis because of that one untrue accusation. Hope they were happy to save some money on unemployment at the expense of a dedicated employee who was always eager to be useful and efficient.

Edit: I just found out you had him sign papers, and he doesn't even know what they were. I'm presuming you had him sign papers agreeing he stole. Good job taking advantage of an autistic man. Do you feel better that you've made it harder for him to survive in the world with a lie you couldn't possibly prove? It wasn't enough to fire him if you decided he needed to be one of the many you fired this month, you had to try to make his entire future harder to survive with such an accusation on his record. Absolutely shameful.

Take exit 28, instead of go to left (not to Locust point road) go to right (Sheetz sign will help you). Take road 297 turn to the left on Canal road. Drive about 1 mile until you reach Ollie's signs.

The guard guy is very polite. Facility is clean. There is restroom for truckers. Door #5.

I got just one complain about the small space for backing maneuver.

No overnight parking. Use open parking lot by Starbucks DC.
