I sent my balikbayan box Sept 1, 2024 to my daughter in the Philippines. At their branch office in Panorama City, they said it will arrive, Nov 6, it’a lie. It’s 90 days already and my daughter haven’t got it!

Let me start on the day of the pickup. It was August 10, 2024, around 9:20 am, and the driver who would pick up the box arrived. First, he does not want to enter our house. Instead, he wants us to give him the balikbayan box. Remember, our box was hefty, and he did not want to go inside the house, use his trolly, and pick up the box. I was able to convince him to go inside. When he went inside our house, he started complaining about why the box was not yet sealed. Before, the person who picked up the balikbayan box usually sealed our boxes. But we had to do it ourselves for him. Terrible, terrible indeed. Then he gave us our carbon copy receipt, which you can't even read because it was illegible, so I took a picture of the original receipt. He didn't say thank you; he didn't say goodbye. He just took our boxes and left. By the way, his name is Gerry.
I was not satisfied with their service, so I called Alas Headquarters. I wanted to address the issue with his supervisor to improve their service, so I spoke to a representative, "Myka." I asked Myka if I could speak to a supervisor. She said her supervisor was not available at the moment, but I could leave a message, which I did. I explained what happened, and I asked her to tell her supervisor to give me a call. She said she would relay the message to her supervisor. The whole day, nobody called me from Alas.
Usually, they deliver our balikbayan boxes in less than two months. It was October 21, 2024, when I made a follow-up about my box. It was Myka who answered the phone and told me that our box was in Taiwan. She estimates that they will deliver our box within that week. A week later, I called Alas because we still needed to receive our balikbayan box. She then said that our box was in their warehouse in Manila, Philippines, and they would deliver it any day now. She even said that if our box is that important, why don't I call their office in Manila? The nerve and professionalism were on the roof. They seemed to be playing games with me, so I asked for a supervisor. She then said again that her supervisor was not available at the moment and was out for lunch. I asked what time her lunch ended, and she said 2 pm, so I asked her to tell her supervisor to call me after lunch. I even gave my cellphone number to verify that they had my number. Guess what, nobody called me.
November 1, 2024, I asked my family member in the Philippines to call Alas Manila. Their office in Manila said that our box was not yet released in the port. So, all the times I called Alas about the status of my box, they were lying to me.
Exactly three months, which was November 10, 2024, when my family in the Philippines told me that my balikbayan box just arrived. When the box arrived, it was pretty much beaten up.

Based on my experience, I already established that Alas Cargo is a terrible company to send your balikbayan boxes. Their staff are horrible, dishonest, deceitful, untrustworthy, lying, and have no integrity. Their business itself is worse than bad.

My mother sent a box to The Philippines, delivery took more than 3 months instead of the estimated 30-45 days, and nearly half of the contents were missing upon arrival.

This happens too often, and there’s no blame to assign because everyone blames “customs.” Never sending anything through this service again.

The best from sending money to sending balikbayan box,small box to jumbo box ,i tried them all and it safely arrive completely as stated, if theres delay due to nature circumstances like earthquake in Taiwan , the office in Manila manage to call me about the delay and soon as everything clears out my family received the box perfectly and completely

I wish I could give zero stars or a negative score. I only used them once back in 2021. My family received the box in over 2 months and more than half of what I sent didn't get to them. They open the box and pick and choose, they take all electronics first then go thru the rest. Their customer service is non-existent and told me I had to have an inventory list of what's in the package before I send it out. Like that would have really mattered. They will steal the whole box if they could. Never again.

I've been using Alas Cargo for the last 16 years since my parents moved back to Bohol. I've sent MANY boxes throughout the years because my parents miss a lot of name brand items plus they are retired and look forward to receiving the boxes. NOT ONCE, have I had any problems with Alas from the time I drop off or pick up to when they receive the items at their door. The pick-up guys always call me at least 15 minutes before arriving and they are quick and efficient. With inflation going on, always call ahead to find out the prices. The destination determines the price, mine is Bohol so unfortunately it's further from the capital and costs more. Overall, I've been very happy with Alas and their employees.

If I could give these guys a double negative review, I would. November 2021, they delivered the box to my recipient with 80 percent of the content gone. I reported it within just a few hours, and these guys have no empathy whatsoever, they couldn't care less if your stuff get stolen or what.
This is how they compensate their employees, they wont do a thing, wont go after the thieves.. but instead, you’d be talking to people like they dont know what’s goin on in the world.
