Very unhappy with TDOT!!!
I live between Riceville & Athens, TN, just off of highway 39 of which TDOT is responsible.
We had two sink holes appear back in October of 2024 (or close to that time) along a short section of highway 39 and are STILL waiting for repairs to be completed. When trying to reach TDOT to find the status, almost always get their voice mail instead of a real person. The last time I contacted them, I was contacted, via a -ringless- phone message (is that even legal) and told to call Tally Construction who has supposedly been contracted to perform some work there. Tried to call them and reached (surprise) voice mail and have not had any contact from them whatsoever. TDOT (-not- Tally Construction) is responsible for that highway and should answer for the long delay.
That highway is used by dozens of people every day to enter downtown Athens (or at least it was...) so everyone has to detour over to Congress Parkway if they live past the 'construction'. The detour is via 717 which is already in poor shape and somewhat dangerous. I'm also sure that the people who live off of that road are pretty tired of the added traffic every day and night.
Today, February 7th, I tried calling TDOT again only to get their voice mail. We all pay plenty of taxes to have our roads in working order here but we're hardly getting our money's worth as things stand.
To TDOT - Please GET THIS WORK DONE or see to it that it does get done!!!

August 13 2024. I had a flat tire on the off ramp on 75 to 153. The gentleman that came to my rescue was so polite and professional. The HELP program is well spent at helping driver in their dire need.THANK YOU

I would give negative stars if it was possible. The sheer stupidity of having major construction on two major interstates over the holidays that is still not done as of today is by far the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I genuinely have no words strong enough to express how moronic they are. Never finish projects, clothes off areas that have nothing to do with what's currently being worked on (i.e. there's nobody around there is clearly no groundbreaking or anything else to indicate that it should be closed off for any reason), the list goes on. I'm honestly ashamed of living somewhere with a DOT this stupid.

I have to say that TDOT has to be some of the best tax $'s spent! Had a great experience with the gentleman who came to the site of my wreck on 75 north where all those right hand lanes merge and everyone waits until the last minute to get over. There were 4 cars stopped in the middle of the freeway because of that. I missed hitting the person in front of me but the car behind me hit me. The guy from TDOT was our hero! I wished I had gotten his name.
This happened about 1.5 hours ago.

They failed this week. Bad. Very little ice and snow accumulation. Took 10 hours to get to Chattanooga from Memphis and 4 hours was being stuck on I-24 East in this region. People died man just clean the roads

You need to fix your screw up at the I75-24 split now. Traffic north bound is backed up everyday. Sometimes 2-3 miles for over 10 hours. Don't wait another year as scheduled to do the 2nd phase. DO IT NOW. Before people start having massive road rage.
